On 3rd July 1986, a leading businessman, Alan Bond, declared his plan to establish the first private and fully independent university of Australia at Burleigh Forest. The Queensland government passed the Bond University Act and granted Bond University the status of an independent tertiary institution on 23rd April 1987.

The university started operating with 322 students on 13th May 1989. Initially, it offered postgraduate and undergraduate programs in social sciences and humanities, science and technology, business, and law. Notably, the university is recognized with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). Also, the university’s programs for foreign students are affiliated to the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).

Situated on Gold Coast in Queensland, the Bond University campus features the first-rate infrastructure that houses a number of world-class facilities. The campus is home to hi-tech computer labs, lecture theatres, case-study and seminar rooms, teaching labs, the Balnaves Foundation Multimedia Learning Centre and a huge amphitheater. The well-stocked John and Alison Kearney Library have computers, group study rooms, and study areas. The campus offers excellent dining and residential facilities with comfortable on-campus accommodation. Also, various dining options, like Pulse Cafe, University Club, Papyrus Cafe, Kinetic Cafe, and Don’s, are available on the campus. It also features a sports center that offers group exercise sessions and facilities for several sports and related activities like aerobics, boxing, TRX, yoga, swimming, football, and rugby.

Bond University offers an array of postgraduate and undergraduate programs in various subjects such as accounting, actuarial science, law, architecture, arts, business, science, commerce, communication, sports, film, health, tourism, journalism, psychology, and social science. The university houses over 1,000 staff members and more than 4,000 students. Also, 48% of the student population includes foreign students. It has collaborations with several international universities like Fudan University in China, Osaka University in Japan, Singapore Management University in Singapore, Yonsei University in South Korea, and Soochow University in Taiwan.

These collaborations present students with a chance to participate in excellent student-exchange and study-abroad programs. The university also offers numerous employment opportunities to students through organizing job and internship fairs, networking functions, and on-campus recruitments.
