National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology

Bengaluru, Karnataka

I extend warm Greetings to all the stakeholders, farming community, well-wishers and the research community involved in livestock developmental activities.

Dear Friends, the purpose of quoting the above tagline is that the ICAR-NIANP, Bengaluru is on the threshold of completion of 25 years of its inception. This evokes me to glance over the path the Institute has travelled and its footsteps in these 25 precious years, and I feel it is time to rejoice over the imprint the Institute has made. Indeed, combined with a sense of pride and modesty, I can proclaim that the ICAR-NIANP has certainly marked its glorious presence with its substantial progress on all counts all these years. What was once a marshy land in 1995, is today a scenic location of research organization of international repute, having ISO 9001:2015 certification.

Presently, talking about the previous year 2019, the Institute began its scientific activities in January with the organization of a Technical Seminar on ‘Role of Nutrition in augmenting fertility and productivity in bovines’ for the benefit of 150 field extension officers from different Milk Unions of Karnataka Milk Federation. The participants expressed their happiness with the contents of the seminar and its practical usefulness to them. This was followed in the first week of March, by highly successful hosting of 7th Pan Commonwealth Veterinary Conference, in association with the Commonwealth Veterinary Conference, on the theme ‘Role of Veterinarians in addressing the global challenges to the lives of pets, livestock, wildlife, humans and our environment’, attended by about 700 delegates and speakers from 23 countries. This mega event was extremely appreciated by the participants, especially those from abroad and several distinguished scientists were keen to discuss and explore possibilities of collaborations with NIANP, looking into the state of the art laboratory and other infrastructure facilities the Institute has developed over the years, as well as novel approaches of the Institute in carrying out its research programmes.
