Osmania University is placed in the 1201-1500 rank band in THE World University Rankings 2023. The rankings are based on 13 factors that measure how well universities teach, research, share knowledge, and have an international focus. The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings is an annual publication that ranks universities worldwide based on several key indicators of academic performance and reputation. The rankings provide a comprehensive overview of the global higher education landscape and are widely recognized as one of the most influential university rankings. To ensure the rankings are accurate, the researchers studied more than 121 million citations from over 15.5 million research papers and got feedback from 40,000 scholars worldwide. They collected massive information, with over 680,000 data points from more than 2,500 participating universities.

Osmania University was established in 1917 by Nawab Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad. Osmania University is the seventh oldest university in India and the third oldest in South India. Osmania University has received accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council with an A+ grade. The university has eight campus colleges, five constituent colleges, five district PG colleges, 16 research centres, and 720 colleges affiliated with it. The eight campus colleges are University College of Science, University College of Arts & Social Sciences, University College of Law, University College of Commerce & Business Management, University College of Education, University College of Engineering, University College of Technology, and University College of Physical Education. As per the NIRF Ranking 2022, Osmania University has been ranked 46th in the overall category, and 22nd in the university category.

B.Tech, M.Tech, LLB, LLM, M.Sc, B.Ed, M.Ed, M.Com, and MBA are some of the Osmania University courses that are offered. The Osmania University campus is spread over 1300 acres of land with about 3.2 lakh students enrolled, 12 faculties, 53 departments, and 560 teaching staff. As far as the placements are concerned, according to Osmania University placement records of 2022, a total of 25 students were placed out of 55 who pursued a 3-year UG course with a median salary of Rs 4.25 LPA. A total of 315 students with a 4-year UG degree were placed with a median salary of Rs 6 LPA. For 2-year PG courses, 1650 students were successfully placed out of 2350 during the Osmania University placement drive, with a median salary of Rs 6 LPA.
