About the College –
Shri. M. D. Shah Mahila College is an evolving institution offering women’s education to the largest number of girl students in the entire western suburbs of Mumbai. It is affiliated to SNDT Women’s University and patronized by the Janseva Samiti. The College is conveniently located at Malad (West) on B. J. Patel Road which is at a walkable distance from the closest station ‘Malad’ on the Western Railways.
The college offers courses in the faculties of Arts and Commerce with various discipline components. Besides, it also runs several professional courses like BMS, BCA, BMM & BAFI and Certificate Courses in Interior Designing, Fashion Designing, etc. Established in 1968, the college today offers Post-graduation Degrees in Economics, History and Hindi as well as M. Com. (Marketing and Accountancy & Taxation) The Management is thus oriented towards making higher education accessible to the girl-child irrespective of any prevalent social or economic problems. The institution is pro-actively engaged in curtailing several limitations that a girl child faces in contemporary society in her attempts to educate herself.

Degree college:
Arts Faculty
The college imparts instruction in the Arts Discipline leading to Bachelor’s Degree in Arts (B.A) through Gujarati, English, Marathi, and Hindi Medium. Any student who has passed the XII Standard or the Higher Secondary Examination with Arts of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education or an Equivalent Examination of any recognized University or Board will be eligible for admission to B. A. Part I class.
The B.A. Course is organized as per the following pattern:

Commerce Faculty
B. Com. Degree Course:
The College imparts instructions in the Commerce Discipline leading to Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (B.Com) through English as well as Gujarati Medium.
Eligibility for Admission:
B. Com. Part –I class:
Any student who has passed the XII Standard or the Higher Secondary Examination with commerce of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education or Entrance Test, Pre-University or First Year Commerce of Statutory University or an Equivalent Examination of any recognized University or Board will be eligible for admission to B. Com. Part I class.
ENRICHMENT COURSE
BA I and II and B.COM I and II
Students have to complete Enrichment Courses worth 100 marks. Within two academic years. (50 marks at 1st year and 50 marks at 2nd year).

Admissions are given as per SNDT Women’s University rules & Eligibility Criteria for Programmes.
Eligibility Conditions : B.A. / B.Com.
The institute follows the philosophy of inclusion. There is noof caste, creed, economic status and physical disability etc.
Std XII (H.S.C.) OR Equivalent examination from any recognized with English as a compulsory subject for admission to B.A./B.Com. PART
(FIRST YEAR DEGREE)

Students from other state need to produce eligibility certificatesS.N.D.T. Women’s University, Mumbai. The students should note Unless the application accompanied by provisional eligibility certificate, their admission cannot be assured. Their becomes complete only when the S.N.D.T. Women’s University confirms the same after receiving Migration or Transfer Certificate from respective boards / University.+ (HSC) Passing Certificate.
Student is not allowed to keep terms simultaneously for two courses.
Students seeking permission must state that she has not registered at other College or Institution for any course conducted by any other University of Department of Education.
Students from any other universities or HSC should be fully passed.

The students should obtain the prospectus and admission forms bythe requisite fee only if they have scored 45% or more in case of opencategory and 40% or more marks in case of SC/ ST/ BC and such othercategories.The students who wish to take admission in BCA are required to clear bridge Course in mathematics.
The students may have to appear for CET Exam conducted by theor an interview organized by the college or any other test that may be organized by the University / college from time to time depending upon the need.
