HPNLU Overview

HPNLU joined the CLAT Consortium from the academic session of 2019-2020 and now accepts the CLAT exam for admission to its UG Law courses. The CLAT 2023 application started on August 8, 2022, and the last date to apply was November 18, 2022. The last date to submit the fee and edit the CLAT form is also November 18, 2022. The exam is scheduled to be held on December 18, 2023, and the counselling is expected to start in January 2023. The Consortium of National Law Universities will conduct the exam in an offline mode.

Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla was established in 2016 under the Himachal Pradesh National Law University Act 2016 by the State Government. HPNLU Admission 2023

The admission to the BA LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons), and, LLM courses are done on the basis of the scores attained by students in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). The HPNLU course admissions to the recently introduced MBA in Corporate Law course are merit-based. The PhD admission is based on the results of the Entrance Test conducted by the university each year. The details about the admission for various courses are mentioned below:

HPNLU Admission Process for BA LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons), and, LLM

  • The admission to these courses is purely based on the scores of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
  • As the first step in the HPNLU Shimla admission process for the above-mentioned courses, aspiring candidates must register themselves for the CLAT examination.
  • This is to be done through the official website of the Consortium of NLUs which is consortiumofnlus.ac.in. This is the CLAT 2023 official website.
  • The application fee for the general category is Rs 4,000 whereas for the SC/ST/BPL candidates it is Rs 3,500.
  • The registration for CLAT in 2023 began on August 8, 2022. They closed on November 18, 2022. The last date to edit the applications and make the application fee payment was also November 18, 2023.
  • The exam is now scheduled to be conducted on December 18, 2022. The Consortium of National Law Universities will conduct the exam in an offline mode.
  • The Himachal Pradesh National Law University course admissions will be offered on the basis of the CLAT All India Rank. The Consortium of National Law Universities will declare a consolidated merit list followed by a counselling invite list.
  • This will be followed by a detailed counselling procedure conducted by the Consortium.
  • The counselling registration process of CLAT for the Himachal Pradesh National Law University admission will be done on an invitation basis. Students will be invited for counselling registration based on their CLAT results.
  • Invited candidates must fill in a minimum of five preferences for courses as well as block their seat by paying the fee.
  • The fee to reserve a seat will be Rs 30,000 for general category students and Rs 20,000 for reserved category students.
  • Thereafter, the first allotment list will be released.
  • As the next step in the HPNLU admission procedure, candidates should take any one of the following actions:

1.“Accept/ Lock” the seat, upload the documents, and pay the fee to HPNLU Shimla.

2.Apply for “Revise”, upload the documents, and, pay the fees.

3.Exit the admission process.

  • Similarly, five allotment lists will be released followed by acceptance/upgradation/rejection of seats by candidates.
  • The HPNLU admission 2023 will be confirmed only after the verification of documents by the university and the payment of fees by candidates.
  • The fee for candidates whose admission is not approved will be refunded in due time.

HPNLU Admission Procedure for PhD

  • The admission to the PhD course at the Himachal Pradesh National Law University is based on an Entrance Test conducted by the university every year. The interested candidates are required to apply online through the official university website which is hpnlu.ac.in.
  • Once the form for the HPNLU PhD admission 2023 has been filled, it must be submitted by registering at the ERP portal of the university which is www.erphpnlu.in.
  • Candidates are advised to submit the application form within the due deadlines and apply well in advance.
  • The HPNLU will not accept any offline applications for PhD admissions.
  • The application fee for the HPNLU admission 2023 for the PhD course is Rs 3,000 for the unreserved categories and Rs 2,500 for the SC/ST and other reserved categories.
  • The examination would evaluate aspiring candidates in areas like Research Methodology, Constitutional Law, and, Jurisprudence.
  • The candidates who have qualified for the UGC NET/JRF exams will be exempted from the entrance examination. However, all applicants must fill out the HPNLU PhD admission 2023 application form.
  • Based on the applications, students will be shortlisted for appearing for the PhD Entrance Examination of Himachal Pradesh National Law University. The list of candidates shortlisted for attempting the entrance exam will be available on the official website under the “Notices” or “What’s New” sections. Students must appear for the examination on the designated date, time and place. The HPNLU admit card 2023 will be sent across to the candidates on the registered email ids. The seat intake for PhD is 10 seats.

HPNLU Admission Process for MBA in Corporate Law

  • MBA in Corporate Law has been introduced recently for the batch of 2023-24. The course has an intake of 30 seats.
  • The admission will be strictly on a merit basis for this course.
  • The eligibility criteria for HPNLU admission 2023 in the MBA Corporate Law course include graduation or an equivalent degree in any stream from a recognised university established by Law.
  • A minimum of 55% marks and 50% in the case of reserved category students must be attained to secure admission.
  • The shortlisted students will be invited for Group Discussions and Personal Interview rounds.
  • The application fee for the HPNLU admission procedure for the MBA Corporate Law course is Rs 2,000, which is non-refundable.
  • Candidates can apply through the website hpnlu.ac.in. The last date to apply for the 2023 session was September 15, 2023.
