APSCHE has announced AP ICET Counselling 2023 dates. According to the announcement, the registration for counselling will begin on September 8th and will be conducted until September 14, 2023. Established in 1926, Andhra University (AU) is a 96-year-old higher education institution that is considered as one of the country's oldest educational institutions. The university is the first to be conceived as a residential and teaching-cum-affiliating university. Mainly devoted to postgraduate teaching and research, Andhra University came into being after a prolonged and collective struggle of the Telugu elite for a university in the educationally backward northern Circars and Ceded districts of the erstwhile Madras Presidency.

Sir C.R. Reddy was Andhra University’s founder and Vice-Chancellor. Former President of India, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan succeeded Dr C. R. Reddy as Vice-Chancellor in 1931. Moreover, the university is fortunate to engage the services of famous educationists such as Dr T.R. Seshadri, Dr S. Bhagavantham, Professor Hiren Mukherjee, Professor Humayan Kabir, and Dr V.K.R.V. Rao.

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has accredited the university with an ‘A' grade, attesting to the quality of Higher Education provided by the university. Furthermore, Andhra University developed a Quality Management System to become the first general university in the country to obtain ISO 9001: 2000 Certification in 2006.

In 1972, AU started a separate School of Distance Education to provide quality distance learning opportunities to the students. Andhra University Distance Education

The AU SDE (Andhra University School of Distance Education) has 23 permanent faculties offering four UG programmes, 18 PG programmes, five certification courses, nine PG diploma courses, 15 professional courses, and seven collaborative courses through Distance Education Mode. The AU distance learning package comprises self-learning study materials, audio-video classes, and face-to-face interaction. Students at AU SDE study the same syllabi and are subject to the same regulations as the regular students of Andhra University. The Degree awarded is also the same as the regular degree.

Gyan Vani, a community Radio Station, is located at the School of Distance Education and caters to the needs of learners of the School of Distance Education. The School of Distance Education has 35 study centres as well.

The Andhra University Placement Drives 2022 proved to be a successful campus placement drive wherein students from various constituent colleges got placed in industry-leading organisations. During the placement drive, AU College of Engineering (AUCoE) achieved 95% placements & AU College of Engineering for Women (AUCEW) achieved 100% placements.

Hostel & Accommodation -

The Andhra University campus has 23 hostels for men, accommodating more than 3200 students and 10 hostels exclusively for women with a capacity of more than 2000 students. There are two separate hostels for international students. The university has two Residential Health Centres - one on the south campus and the other on the north campus. It also has a homoeo dispensary for the students and staff members. Andhra University has four guest houses and 324 staff quarters.

Library -

Dr V.S. Krishna Library is the Andhra University central library. It also has two branch libraries - Engineering College Library and Law College Library. Dr V.S. Krishna Library has a 60,000 sq. ft. of carpet area. It has a seating and reading facility to enable the user to choose and refer books comfortably. It has a seating capacity of 500 users and houses 5,20,502 books. The library is effectively using SOUL software. It also provides special facilities for differently-abled persons. Furthermore, AU has developed a separate unit of books in Braille for visually challenged students.

Health Services -

AU Health Centre, formerly known as AU Dispensary, was established in 1933 for medical and health hazards of AU students and staff. It was modified as AU Health Centre in 1981 with a senior medical officer and three medical officers. The students, scholars, teaching and non-teaching members, and their family members staying at the AU campus utilise the hospital services as and when in need. There is a separate homoeopathy clinic attached to the health centre.

The Andhra University facilities include a central canteen, four canteens at various locations, a press and publication division, women waiting halls, faculty club, schools for employees' children, NSS & NCC Units, post office, banking facilities, University Employment & Guidance Bureau, training & placement cell. a sports complex, a gymnasium hall, a transportation facility, and a computer centre.
