MNLU Nagpur Overview

Maharashtra National University, Nagpur, widely known as NLU, Nagpur was established in 2014 by the Government of Maharashtra. It is one of the most-popular NLUs in the country which is also the 19th NLU set up in India. The university is located in the city of Nagpur, Maharashtra. Professor Dr. Vijender Kumar, who was the VC of NLU and Judicial Academy, Assam and the Registrar of NALSAR, University of Law, Hyderabad was invited to join NLU, Nagpur to become its first VC. The University aims at making progress towards the dream of achieving excellence in the field of legal education with its dedicated staff, students and faculty members under the guidance of the founding members and different statutory bodies of the university.

Admissions at MNLU Nagpur

Candidates applying for BA LL.B and LL.M at NLU Nagpur must appear for CLAT 2020. The application process of the same entails the following steps:

  • The application needs to be submitted online through the official website of its conducting body.
  • The candidates must first register using their mobile number or email id after which an OTP will be sent to the mobile number for validation. Login using the same number and password.
  • Fill the form carefully as no editing will be allowed after successful submission of the form. Candidates must select the preference for the NLUs and the centre of the entrance test.

NLU Nagpur B.A. LL.B Eligibility Criteria 2020

Candidates applying for B.A.LL.B at NLU Nagpur must fulfil the below-mentioned criteria:

  • Completed their education of the 10+2 or equivalent level.
  • 45% marks or equivalent grade for General/PQD/OBC/NRI/PIO/OCI category candidates.
  • 40% marks or equivalent grade for SC/ST candidates.
  • Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam in March/April 2020 will also be eligible.
  • If a situation of equal marks arises, the break of tie shall be on the basis of higher marks in the legal aptitude section of CLAT, the candidate's age and computerised draw of lots.
  • There is no upper age limit for UG-CLAT.

An LL.M aspirant from NLU Nagpur must go through the below-mentioned eligibility criteria before applying. They have to fulfil these conditions:

  • An LL.B degree or equivalent.
  • 50 per cent marks or equivalent grade for General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI category candidates and 45 per cent marks or equivalent for candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
  • Applicants appearing in the qualifying exam in April/May 2020 may also apply.
  • There is no upper age limit for appearing in CLAT 2020.

NLU Nagpur PhD Eligibility Criteria 2020

To be admitted to the PhD course at Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, candidates must meet the criteria provided below:

  • Completed a Master's Degree in Law from a recognised university including a foreign university with not less than 55% marks or equivalent. The course must be in regular mode.
  • Candidates who have obtained a Master's degree (regular mode) in any discipline from a recognised university including a foreign university with at least 55% marks or equivalent. This criteria, however, is for the candidates who have qualifications in social sciences, science and humanities and may go for research interfacing with law or public policy. In addition to that, if the candidate is awaiting the final result of the qualifying examination then he/she shall be permitted to take the test provisionally. In such a case, candidates must have to show the final result of the qualifying exam for the final presentation of PhD proposal and SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) and Specially Abled Persons (SAP) shall be given 5% relaxation.
  • The candidate may be a judge who has served for at least three years as a judge of the High Court in India or Judge of the Supreme Court of India.
  • An aspirant who has qualified Institute of Company Secretaries of India's Company Secretary examination or Chartered Accountants examination conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, New Delhi along with the award of Associate Membership of the Institute (ACS). The candidate must also have a Bachelor degree in Law from a recognised university in any stream.

NLU Nagpur PhD Application Process 2020

The application form for Ph.D at NLU Nagpur must be downloaded from the official website of the university and the duly filled-in form must be sent along with a Demand Draft for Rs 2,000 and Rs 4,000 for Indian and Foreign Nationals respectively. The same shall be drawn in favour of "Registrar, Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur" payable at Nagpur.

NLU Nagpur PhD Selection Process 2020

Selection of the PhD aspirants at NLU Nagpur shall be on the basis of the candidate's (including Foreign Nationals and NRI) performance in All India Entrance Test (AIET). Candidates who have qualified JRF, UGC NET, CSIR, GATE, M.Phil, SLET or a judge who has served for at least three years as a judge of High Court or Supreme of India shall be exempted from AIET. All the research proposals along with the preliminary proposals will be screened through an anti-plagiarism software which must not exceed 10 to 15% of the total work.

NLU Nagpur Diploma Eligibility Criteria 2020

In order to be eligible for the diploma courses offered by NLU, Nagpur, candidates must satisfy the below-mentioned criteria:

  • Any graduate with at least 50% marks from a recognised university. The university offers 5% relaxation to candidates belonging to the reserved categories of Maharashtra. There is no age limit.
  • Professionals and employees can also apply.
