Being the part of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication, Pune was established in 1991. The college is located at Symbiosis Knowledge Village, Lavale, Mulshi, Pune, Maharashtra 412115. Just like other colleges of Symbiosis Group, SIMC has a vision of “Promoting international understanding through quality education”. SIMC, Pune was ranked 2nd best Mass Communication across India by Outlook, 4 in Top Mass Communication Colleges by The Week and many other awards in the year 2018. Best Master’s' 2018 has ranked the college as 8th best MBA CM program in Central Asia and Outlook-Drishti 2018 had ranked SIMC’s MBA program, 39th in 'Best B School' rankings. The college is approved by AICTE.

Currently Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication, Pune is offering Master program in Management and Masters in Arts. MBA is available in Communication Management at the college with an intake capacity of 120 students. While MA is available in Mass Communication. Students who have secured minimum 50% aggregate in Bachelors' degree(45% in case of reserved category(SC/ST and PWD candidates)0 are eligible to apply for any of the programs. Reservation is available for SC, ST, Differently Abled, International Students and Kashmiri Migrants. Selection for the program will be done on the basis of Group Exercise (GE), Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT). Additionally, Students have to give a mandatory entrance exam(Symbiosis National Aptitude Test(SNAP)) organized by Symbiosis University. Students opting for MBA may register themselves on the official website of SNAP and for MA on the official website of SIMC.

The placement cell of Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication, Pune has worked hard from the establishment of the college for providing better placement opportunities to the students admitted to the college. About 65% of the total MA students got admitted in the placement season of 2018. The HIghest package offered to the students of MA was INR 13 LPA and the average was INR 5.60 LPA. About 91% of the total strength of MBA got placed in top companies and gained the highest package of INR 14 LPA and average was INR 6.03 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Cognizant, ICICI Bank, Turner, Resultrix, Kantar, Kinetic, Vedanta, VML and Neoniche. The placement cell of the college also organized many industrial visits and invited other industries to the campus for providing summer placement offers to the students.
